Manny RamirezRamirez hit a three-run homer in the Dodgers' 8-5 loss to the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS on Friday. Ramirez is 8-for-18 (.444) with three home runs, seven RBIs and a .565 OBP in five postseason games. Ramirez has hit a record 27 homers in the postseason. His 71 RBIs are second only to Bernie Williams' 80.
Chad BillingsleyBillingsley allowed eight runs and eight hits in 2 1-3 innings in the Dodgers' 8-5 loss to the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS on Friday. He struck out four of the first six batters he faced, but things quickly unraveled. Billingsley's outing against the Phillies was the opposite of his first postseason appearance. The right-haner held the Cubs to one run and five hits while striking out seven in 6 2-3 innings of the Dodgers' 10-3 win in Game 2 of the NLDS.
Kevin YoukilisYoukilis had three hits, including a RBI-double in the seventh inning in Boston's 2-0 win over Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday. Youkilis is hitting .318 (7-for-22) with two RBIs in five playoff games.
Evan LongoriaLongroia was hitless in four at-bats in the Rays' 2-0 loss to Boston in Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday. Since becoming the second player in major league history to homer in his first two playoff at-bats, Longoria is 2-for-14 with eight strikeouts. One of those hits also came in Tampa Bay?s Game 1 victory over Chicago in the ALDS.
Shane VictorinoVictorino drove in four runs as the Phillies beat the Dodgers 8-5 Friday for a 2-0 lead in the NL championship series. Victorino, who is batting .304 (7-for-23) with a grand slam, three doubles and nine RBIs in six playoff games, was told after the game that his grandmother died Friday morning. Victorino hopes to attend the funeral in Hawaii without missing any games. No arrangements had been made yet, but Tuesday is a scheduled off day in the series.
Brett MyersMyers did better at the plate than on the mound in the Phillies' 8-5 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS. He was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and allowed five runs, six hits and four walks in five innings. "I'm not a very good hitter," said Myers, who became the first pitcher to get three hits in an NLCS game. "I just get lucky occasionally. I'm baffled by it. I would've rather pitched better."
Daisuke MatsuzakaMatsuzaka took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, pitching the defending World Series champions past the Rays 2-0 Friday night in the ALCS opener. He allowed four hits, four walks and struck out nine in seven innings. Matsuzaka, 18-3 overall, also got off to a shaky start, walking leadoff man Akinori Iwamura and two of the next four batters to load the bases with two outs. Opponents were hitless in 14 at-bats against the right-hander with the bases loaded during the regular season, and he got out of another jam by retiring Cliff Floyd.
Michael BarrettBarrett, who missed 115 games because of injuries, has elected free agency after clearing outright waivers. Barrett missed the last three months of the season after fouling a ball off his face at Colorado on July 2. He also was on the DL from April 8-May 24 with a sprained right elbow.

Tom GorzelannyGorzelanny was placed on the 60-day disabled list to make room for No. 1 draft pick Pedro Alvarez. Gorzelanny, who missed the last three weeks of the season with a finger injury, left his start against the Houston Astros in the third inning Wednesday night with an irritation in his finger. Gorzelanny went 6-9 with a 6.66 ERA in 21 starts.
Mike RedmondThe Twins will keep Redmond for another season, paying him $950,000. The 37-year-old backup catcher hit .287 in 38 games this season, with 12 RBIs. He has a .292 career average. A leader in the clubhouse, Redmond played fewer games this season. He played in 82 games in 2007, 47 in 2006 and 45 in his first year with the team in 2005. Starter Joe Mauer stayed healthy this season and logged more time behind the plate.
Ambiorix BurgosBurgos will be jailed for three months while awaiting trial for a hit-and-run accident that killed two women. The 24-year-old reliever told The Associated Press that a Dominican judge ordered him to remain behind bars Wednesday night out of concerns for his safety. Burgos is accused of abandoning the victims of the Sept. 30 accident and fleeing, charges that can carry six months to two years in prison. He disappeared after the accident but turned himself in Tuesday. Prosecutor Raul Quiroz said an investigation could lead to additional charges.
Rich HardenThe Cubs picked up Harden's $7 million option for next year. The Cubs acquired the hard-throwing right-hander from Oakland on July 8. He was the losing pitcher in Game 3 of the NL playoffs on Saturday night as the Cubs were swept in three games by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 26-year-old Harden went a combined 10-2 with a 2.07 ERA in 25 starts for the Athletics and Cubs this season. Harden, who has battled arm problems throughout his career, was 5-1 with a 1.77 ERA in 12 starts with the Cubs.
Omar VizquelVizquel, the 11-time Gold Glove shortstop who will be looking for work this winter, is recovering from laser surgery on his right eye. "All went well,'' Vizquel said in an e-mail. Vizquel got a late start to the year after needing arthroscopic left knee surgery during spring training. He was limited to 92 games - his fewest since playing 64 in 2003 for the Cleveland Indians, the second-to-last year of his 11-season tenure there. Vizquel batted .222 with 23 RBIs, 10 doubles and a triple in 2008.
Carlos PenaPena went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a 6-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday that clinched the Rays' first-round AL playoff series. Pena, who batted .247 with team highs in homers (31) and RBIs (102) in the regular season, has gone 5-for-10 in three playoff contests thus far.
Andy SonnanstineSonnanstine gave up both runs and three hits over 5 2-3 innings of a 6-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday that clinched the Rays' first-round AL playoff series. Sonnanstine walked one and fanned four in his first career playoff start. He went 13-9 with a 4.38 ERA in 32 regular-season starts, but had gone 0-3 in seven outings since a win over the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 18.
Travis HafnerHafner may need right shoulder surgery after a disappointing end-of-the-season physical exam. Hafner spent more than three months on the disabled list with a strained shoulder. During his exit physical, team doctors found the strength did not return to levels that the club had hoped following the extended rehab, general manager Mark Shapiro said Tuesday. Hafner and the team are now examining "alternatives" including offseason arthroscopic surgery. Tests showed the left-handed power hitter had mysteriously lost nearly all the strength in his shoulder.
